Patent Bots Introduces Patent Speed Rankings

Somerville, MA: Patent Bots, creator of AI-enabled software for patent attorneys, is well known for its annual Patent Quality Rankings. The company is pleased to announce an additional analysis of issued patents, the Patent Bots Patent Speed Rankings.

To determine the Patent Speed Rankings, Patent Bots processed every patent issued by the USPTO over the course of a year to assess the number of days from the first office action to issuance. It then ranked the 710 patent law firms with 50+ issued patents based on how long they take to get a patent issued. The rankings are based on the Patent Bots Speed Score, which takes into account different prosecution pendencies across different USPTO tech centers.

“As patent attorneys know, there is a tradeoff between getting a patent issued quickly and other factors, such as obtaining broader patent claims,” Patent Bots founder and patent attorney Jeff O’Neill said. “In some situations, however, obtaining a patent quickly may be crucial to the success of a company. A company obtaining a patent quickly may be able to prevent competitors from copying their innovations, secure needed funding from investors, or defend themselves in an existing patent litigation.”

The following firms ranked highest in the Patent Bots Patent Speed Rankings based upon the Speed Score:

In addition to the Speed Score, Patents Bots also ranked firms on other metrics related to obtaining patents quickly, including the number of extensions per patent, the number of office actions per patent, and the number of requests for continued examination per patent. This information is available within the Patent Bots PatentVerse tool; the top ten in each category is publicly available, while further rankings require a Patent Bots subscription.
