What Others Have To Say About IPWatchdog In-Person Events

I just wanted to thank you both for thinking of me and inviting me to speak on the panel and attend the forum. It was such a meaningful experience, and I’m truly grateful to have been included. The forum was not only an impressive event in terms of content and execution, but also such a reflection of your leadership in this space.  I’m especially thankful for the way you champion young professionals. In a world where that isn’t always the norm, you choose to uplift the next generation, ensuring we are not only including, but that our voices are heard alongside such accomplished leaders. The advice and mentorship you both shared throughout the event is something I’ll carry with me moving forward. I look forward to staying in touch. Thank you again for the opportunity, your generosity, and your leadership. It was an honor to be part of such a thoughtful and inspiring program.

– Sarah Kohn, Director of Policy, ACG Advocacy, LLC

“The Women’s IP Forum 2025 was both inspiring and deeply insightful. The sessions moved beyond technical updates to authentic conversations about careers, balance, and leadership in IP, showing the many directions a career in this field can grow. The atmosphere Gene and Renee fostered made the event feel less like a conference and more like a true community, welcoming and genuine, where ideas could be shared openly and thoughtfully. It was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression.”

– Amara Oparah, Trademark Attorney and Brand Strategist, Wood IP LLC

It’s one thing to say you’re supportive of the IP community, and it’s another thing to actually do it. Gene Quinn and the entire IPWatchdog team are true champions of IP professionals who deserve recognition, offering platforms and opportunities to young professionals and seasoned leaders alike. Their programs are consistently excellent, but what sets them apart is the authenticity and heart of their team. They do things refreshingly differently, offering multiple perspectives on current topics that impact all facets of IP. They may be small, but their impact is mighty.”

– Stephanie Curcio, IP Lawyer, Co-founder & CEO, NLPatent

“I enjoyed LIVE tremendously and am looking forward to attending every year that I can from now on. In addition to being super informative and a great networking opportunity (I met lots of great people), it was just a huge amount of fun. Tiring (because it was pretty much non-stop, but that is a good thing), but a lot of fun. One thing that occurred to me is that meeting people/business networking at IPWatchdog conferences seems easier than at other conferences, and I think that is because Renee and Gene create an almost family-like atmosphere where people who are super busy in their day to day lives are relaxed, open to chat with strangers, and just easy going. I think it is quite unique.”

– Lou Zetes, Director of Business Development, Competition Dynamics

“I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the conference.  Good insights on timely issues that brought some policy perspectives and opinions to the table, not just “state of the law” overviews.  That made the content much more engaging. I could tell that Gene and Renée were deeply involved and personally invested in the conference, which added a nice personal touch.”

– Will Freeman, Investment Manager & Legal Counsel, Omni Bridgeway

I had a wonderful time at IPWatchdog LIVE, learned a lot, and made some great connections. The main thing that differentiates IPWatchdog programs is how communal and accessible they are. Often, these conferences can be a little intimidating, particularly when you go alone, but the IPWatchdog team does such a great job of making you feel like you are part of the family and allows for participants to interact in a really approachable way. You sit down for breakfast and strike up a conversation not realizing you are talking to a district court judge, or a CEO, or a GC, and everyone is bonding around a shared interest in IP.  I have nothing but good things to say about the IPWatchdog events. In case you haven’t heard, a bunch of the women from the first IP Women’s Forum started a whatsapp group last year that is going strong (and growing!). We meet up at other events (including LIVE) and are looking forward to the forum later this year. So big thanks to Renée and Gene for bringing us all together!

– Katie O’Sullivan, Senior Corporate Counsel, Renesas Electronics

“The event was fantastic and one of the best IP conferences I have ever attended! The whole IPWatchdog team did a phenomenal job of making everyone feel so comfortable and welcome and were there from start to finish with anything that was needed. Plus everything came together so seamlessly – the sessions, the networking breaks, cocktail receptions – very easy to network with all of the attendees. We were definitely able to make a lot of great connections throughout the conference. The food was also fantastic every step of the way. Also, sharing Luna and the puppies with everyone was so heartwarming and amazing :)”

–Maura Ford, Global Account Executive, IPRally

“IPWatchdog LIVE from inception provides for a nuanced exchange of thoughts and views from big tech via funders, the government (senate/house)/USPTO, the judiciary (including from abroad), brokers and patentees using their patents!  IPWatchdog LIVE is not a runner up anymore, and certainly not another IP conference, but THE established IP forum to attend! Simply superb!”

– Daniel Papst, Managing Director, Papst Licensing

“IPWatchdog puts on the best IP conferences, bar none. The conferences have first class speakers, first class topics, first class networking, even first class food and drink. People really respond to the warm and friendly family atmosphere and they open up in ways I never see at other conferences. You really feel like a part of the IP family when attending their conferences and I try to never miss one. I also learn far more practical tips for my practice than all the other conferences combined. Highly recommended to anyone in the IP industry!”

– John Rogitz, Managing Partner, Rogitz & Associates

“What IPWatchdog has developed in their live events is nothing short of remarkable.  They have gathered an incredible group of practitioners who are true experts in their field.  I would recommend to anyone seeking to improve the depth of their understanding on current, IP issues.”

– Brian Johnson, Partner, Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider

“The 2023 IPWatchdog LIVE Conference was a grand slam! It combined valuable IP-related legal updates), deep thinking and great practical advice on hot legal areas (AI), top interviews with judges and patent bar leaders, and unsurpassed networking opportunities. Another big win for IPWatchdog.”

– Alden Abbott, Former FTC General Counsel; Senior Research Fellow, Mercatus Center at George Mason University

I know there’s a ton behind the scenes that I don’t see at IPWatchdog and IPW LIVE, and you are doing a great job to make it all seem flawless and a fantastic experience for attendees. Thank you. From information delivery, to organization, to food, forums, and friends, the past three years I’ve attended, each one has provided something new. Discussions with others this year included “what happens to this resource if Gene or Renee are gone”, and we all quickly change the subject because we don’t want to think on that and we don’t know how to replace it. I pray for continued health and that you keep on blessing the IP community with your gift. I stand on your shoulders. “

-Jeff Hardin, Inventor Rights

“Consistently a fantastic conference for both in-house and outside counsel. Very valuable and unique content.”

Mark Leonard, General Counsel, Sunsweet Growers, Inc.

“LIVE 2023 truly exceeded the high quality of the earlier two events. They were already my favorite conferences of recent years, and the newest version sets an American record of frank, informed and valuable discussion of key current issues by an all-star team of real experts. To say they were all “thought leaders” understates the reality of their stellar exploration of the issues addressed.  The audience is always as impressive as the panelists—another measure of IPWatchdog’s ever-expanding stature and credibility.

-The Honorable Paul Michel, Retired Chief Judge, Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

IPWatchdog LIVE again proved to be a great conference, and a welcome opportunity to convene with the leaders in IP.  The panel discussions were informed and insightful, and the networking in the hallways and at the receptions was stellar.  You consistently do a magnificent job of bringing together a collegial yet diverse group of speakers, articulating a variety of alternative, and sometimes conflicting, perspectives, but all in the spirit of improving our IP system.  It’s an event where insightful commentary and a healthy contest of ideas plays out to everyone’s benefit.

– Brian O’Shaughnessy, Partner and Chair of IP Transactions & Licensing Group at Dinsmore & Shohl

“It was a privilege to join top practitioners in our field at IPWatchdog Live 2023 to speak about the most important current topics in intellectual property law.  Both the exchange of ideas during the panel discussions and the ad hoc discussions among the attendees advance our practice and progress on policy matters.  Thanks to Gene and Renee Quinn and their IPWatchdog staff for organizing an impactful event.”

-Mark Vallone, Chief Patent Counsel, IBM Americas

“IPWatchdog presents amazing conferences – this one had over 250 attendees from all over the world, and a wide variety of presentations on cutting-edge IP issues. It’s the brainchild of Gene Quinn and Renee C Quinn. I congratulate them and their hard-working staff on their achievement. I learned a tremendous amount regarding litigation trends and substantive law developments in AI, trade secrets, litigation funding, and other subjects, all of which will help me hit the ground running in upcoming IP mediations. I hope my panel contributed a bit to the learning as well.”

-Jeff Kichaven, Jeff Kichaven Commercial Mediation

“I generally avoid IP seminars as they are boring, not useful to me or my practice, and/or repetitive.  This seminar was the exception. I look forward to attending the next one and to learning more useful and new things.  Thank you for a well-organized and useful program.”

– Steven Adkins, Partner, Barnes & Thornburg

“So many great speakers on so many topics that your only problem will be deciding between which of the simultaneous breakout sessions you can attend.”

-Jeffery Langer, General Counsel, Zoeller Company

“I thought the LIVE program went really well this year – I was actually impressed with how similar it felt to the first few programs in Richardson, despite not being in a patent litigation hotspot like Texas (although obviously the DC area has its own gravity in that regard). But a lot of my favorite people from Texas came anyway, and with the added people who found Herndon easier to get to – the networking was better than ever. The programs and speakers were great too – kudos on another successful year.”

-Christoper Freeman, Director, Burford Capital

“The IPWatchdog conference content was excellent, the speakers consistently demonstrated expertise and insight into their topics, and the attendees were leading figures in the field of intellectual property.”

-Steve McBride, Partner, Carmichael IP

“IPWatchdog consistently puts together topical and informative presentations, and the opportunities for networking at the LIVE events are second to none!”

-Brandon Helm, Partner, AddyHart P.C.
