Intellectual property and licensing, in Venice the LES International Conference “Back to licensing: restarting business and fueling innovation”

From 8 to 10 May Italian and international speakers, managers, designers, innovators and leading experts

The international conference of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) is finally back in attendance: hundreds of experts in the field of intellectual and industrial property, licensing and, more generally, innovation meet in Venice from 8 to 10 May.

Two years have passed since the last event, held in 2019 in Japan in the city of Yokohama, in which operators, jurists, managers and innovators met in person. After the digital parenthesis of 2021, the year in which the choice of the organizers necessarily fell on the online formula, Venice has been chosen as the venue for this international meeting which foresees the participation of over 500 people among the major international experts. They will meet to discuss the theme chosen by the LES organizers: Back to licensing: restarting business and fueling innovation.

More than an invitation, the theme expresses the determination to accelerate entrepreneurial initiatives and innovation, also through the protection of intellectual and industrial property, as well as to disseminate information, opinions and publications among the operators themselves.

The program focuses on the concrete themes of transforming, through technology, sectors that are fundamental for the future and sustainable growth. Sectors in which profound and, at the same time, very rapid changes are taking place: automotive, telecommunication, energy / green tech, health care.

The program of meetings of the conference develops around these sectors: briefings led by experts, with the participation in the panels of names of international standing. From Stefano Siragusa (Telecom Italia) to Rebecca McCrackan (Rio Tinto), from Alan Fan (Huawei) to Hayley French (Apitope International NV) to name just a few representatives among the dozens of experts who will speak.

The industry briefings will analyze the drivers of change and the impact on intellectual property and technology development. Specifically, the experts will discuss the processes of innovation, protection, management, commercialization and monetization of intellectual property and technology transfer.

The detailed program of the LES international conference in Venice also sees the presence of other topics with keynote sessions and speakers of international standing such as:

Why Venice. The Patent Statute, issued by the Serenissima Republic of Venice, dates back to 1474, the first official form of protection of inventions. This extraordinary document established, over 500 years ago, the fundamental principles governing intellectual property rights. In addition to its artistic and historical uniqueness, Venice is also a business-oriented city: as the capital of the Veneto region, the second richest and most industrialized of the Italian regions, with an innovative entrepreneurial presence and represents all industrial sectors.

The works of the international LES conference will take place on the Lido of Venice at the Palazzo del Cinema. The gala and networking events will be held in the extraordinary historical-artistic settings of the Arsenale and Palazzo Pisani Moretta.

Chairs of the 2022 international conference: John Paul, President of LES International (LESI) and Mattia Dalla Costa, President of LES Italy.

The conference makes use of a large organizing committee and a scientific committee: https://lesi2022.org/index.php/committees/
