Paul Bawel

Paul Bawel is Senior Vice President for Business Development at Access Advance (formerly HEVC Advance). In this role he manages the growth of Access Advance through new licensors, strategic accounts and new opportunities. Previously, Paul served as Senior Vice President of Licensing for HEVC Advance, overseeing the HEVC Advance worldwide device licensing program.

Before to joining HEVC Advance, Paul was Vice President of Business Development for Acacia Research Group, where he identified and analyzed patent licensing opportunities and their market valuation, and negotiated patent purchases. Prior to Acacia, Paul was Senior Counsel at Microsoft and IP Law Director at Motorola, overseeing several technology patent portfolios, including multimedia standard essential patents. Paul represented Microsoft and Motorola in several patent pools and managed licensing efforts for audio and video standards essential patents.

Early in his career, Paul worked as a R&D engineer developing, testing and implementing digital signal processing systems as a contractor for the US Navy.
