Jacqueline Charlesworth, a key contributor to the Music Modernization Act (“MMA”) and former general counsel of the Copyright Office, is leaving Covington & Burling to join forces with well-known music attorney Lisa Alter at the music and copyright boutique Alter Kendrick & Baron, LLP (“AKB”)

Dr. A. Christal Sheppard is joining IPwe as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development. Christal was the Director of the first USPTO regional office. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Nebraska, teaching Patent Law and International Intellectual Property.

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP announced trecently that Weber Hsiao has joined the firm as a senior attorney in its Intellectual Property department and Patent practice group in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.  Hogan Lovells announced that it has appointed Burkhart Goebel as the new global head of the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) practice. Dr. Goebel will begin his role in the position as of 1 July.

Harness Dickey announced this week that patent attorney Scott Yackey has joined the firm’s Metro Dallas office. Yackey holds experience in many areas of patent law, including patent prosecution and litigation. Mr. Rothstein represents individuals and companies in complex and high-stakes disputes and has significant first-chair trial experience.  He advises clients across a broad range of technologies and industries with specific emphasis on media, advertising, software and hardware, gaming, and e-commerce.
