New AI-Powered Tools Include Gen AI Review Proofreading, Gen AI Chat for Drafting, and Customizable Gen AI Prompts
Somerville, Mass.: Patent Bots, creator of AI-enabled software for patent attorneys, today announced the expansion of its Gen AI-powered features within its platform. The company has launched three new capabilities that leverage generative AI to help patent professionals work more efficiently while maintaining complete control over their workflow: Gen AI Review for proofreading, Gen AI Chat for Drafting, and custom Gen AI Prompts for Drafting.
“At Patent Bots, we believe in building Gen AI into our tools the right way – in ways that are useful and deliver real value, rather than hype, to our customers,” said Jeff O’Neill, Patent Bots founder and CEO. “These new features represent our commitment to smart, effective implementation of AI technology that enhances the patent drafting process.”
Gen AI Review: Intelligent Proofreading in Seconds
The new Gen AI Review feature, accessed via the Proofreading tool in the Patent Bots Word Add-In, uses generative AI to identify typos and grammatical errors within patent applications. The tool displays results in the Patent Bots panel with suggested redlines for corrections. Users can click directly from the results to accept the proposed changes within their application draft. The feature is particularly effective at catching punctuation mistakes, missing or extra words, and even reference label errors.
Gen AI Chat and Prompts: Streamlined Drafting Assistance
The Gen AI Chat for Drafting feature enables patent professionals to interact with an AI assistant directly within Word. Available through the Drafting Automation section of the Patent Bots Word Add-In, users can ask questions and receive AI-generated responses that can be inserted into their application drafts with one click. All AI-generated content is automatically tagged for easy identification during review.
Complementing this capability, the new custom Gen AI Prompts for Drafting tool allows users to upload their own custom drafting prompts, which can then be used consistently across their work. Patent Bots provides starter prompts for the Title, Abstract, and Background sections to help users get started.
Both drafting tools also support the attachment of invention disclosure documents, providing the AI drafting assistants with additional context for more accurate and relevant responses. Patent Bots automatically supplies the AI with the content of the patent application and any attached invention disclosure documents.
User Control and Data Security
Patent Bots prioritizes user control and data privacy across all Gen AI features. Users can enable Gen AI at the subscription level and choose whether to allow it for drafting or non-drafting functions. The company operates with zero data retention infrastructure, ensuring that inputs and outputs are not logged, stored, or used for training purposes.
In addition to these newly announced features, last year the company introduced a Gen AI assistant within its PatentPlextool that allows users to leverage Gen AI to explore patent histories and patent families.
