Hon. Murriel E. Crawford

Administrative Patent Judge Murriel E. Crawford was appointed to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) on October 1, 1996. She joined the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as an associate solicitor in 1989.

Judge Crawford has authored opinions in interferences and ex parte electrical and mechanical cases. She presently is on the Mechanical/Business Methods team handling business methods cases.

Judge Crawford practiced law for Legal Service of Greater Miami until 1983. She practiced patent law for the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Defense and was in the private practice before joining the US Patent Office in 1989.

Judge Crawford has a earned a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1974.

Judge Crawford is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association.
