Gabriel Mathias is a partner at Licks Attorneys’ Rio de Janeiro office, where he has been a key member of the team since 2018. With a career spanning over a decade, Mr. Mathias began his professional journey in 2007 at a prestigious commercial litigation firm in Rio de Janeiro, later transitioning to another renowned litigation practice, where he honed his skills in high-stakes legal disputes before Brazil’s highest courts.

Specializing in complex litigation, Mr. Mathias has a proven track record of leading cases across a wide range of areas, including commercial disputes, patent, trademark, and copyright matters, government contracts, and insolvency law.

Upon joining Licks Attorneys as coordinator of pharmaceutical patent disputes, Mr. Mathias has focused his expertise on complex litigation matters in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, playing a key role in recent disputes that resulted in global patent licensing agreements involving the biggest multinational companies in the area of audio and video coding, and has recently been promoted to become one of the partners of the ICT disputes team.
