Dean Woodward

Dean Woodward is Assistant General Counsel for IP & Licensing in the Office of Corporate Counsel at RTI International. In that role, Dean and his team protect RTI’s intellectual property and work with RTI staff to license RTI IP and technology to participants in industries as diverse as software, pharmaceuticals, energy, and medical devices. As an independent non-profit research institute, RTI is subject to Bayh-Dole in the same manner as universities, so Dean and his team ensure compliance with the applicable regulations and obligations pertaining to intellectual property and assist in negotiating the appropriate IP terms for research contracts.

Prior to joining RTI in 2001, Dean was a licensing attorney for four years at Mobius Group, a financial software company that was acquired by CheckFree Corporation (now part of Fiserv). He obtained an MBA and law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1997 and is a professional engineer (inactive) in North Carolina.
