Incentivizing Innovation for National Security

CSIS is holding a discussion with Representative Deborah Ross (D-NC), moderated by former USPTO Director Andrei Iancu, examining the role of IP and innovation in geopolitical competition and national security, including how bills such as the PREVAIL Act will impact existing Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) processes. Following the discussion with Ross, Iancu will facilitate a panel featuring Henry Hadad, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Tom Brown, Senior Legal Director at Dell, and Doug Collins, former House Representative from Georgia and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, which will examine the broader policy landscape around protecting IP “against a backdrop of U.S. national security.”

Fostering Financial Innovation: How Agencies Can Leverage Technology to Shape the Future of Financial Services

CSIS is hosting a panel discussion on the impact of the CHIPS Act in spurring semiconductor investments in both the United States and Europe. In addition to the success of the act thus far, the panel will discuss future prospects for the race to reshore semiconductor production.

White House Policy on AI

This hearing will cover the White House’s policy on AI, a subject that has been a constant in Washington over the last year. The Biden Administration previously released a blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights, and some of the language and potential policy proposals will likely be discussed in this House hearing.

Intellectual Property Basics and Helpful Resources

The USPTO is hosting this meeting for to give those unfamiliar with patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets more information about IP basics. The Midwest Regional Office of the USPTO is leading the informational meeting, and attendees will hear from experts in the field.
