Joshua Budwin

Joshua W. Budwin is a principal in the Austin office of McKool Smith.  Josh has worked on cellular telecommunications, video coding and other highly complex cases for all 20 years of his career. Josh has represented AT&T, Ericsson, Nokia, Verizon and T-Mobile, among others like InterDigital, in various forums across the country (including the ITC, EDTX, and NDCA). He has also managed teams engaged in global IP litigation in the UK, Germany, Brazil and Columbia. Josh led a team that successfully represented Rovi (formerly TiVo and now Adeia) in three consecutive successful ITC representations related to digital television technology. This representation resulted in multiple exclusion orders and 3-0 precedential Federal Circuit opinion in Rovi’s favor. Recently Josh secured a 3-0 precedential opinion from the Federal Circuit in favor of ParkerVision where the Court found in ParkerVision’s favor on all three issues on appeal. To-date, Josh has been lead counsel—for both plaintiffs and defendants—in actions in the ITC, MDFL, WDTX, EDTX, NDTX and NDCA. On the plaintiffs side his clients have obtained well in excess of $1B of jury verdicts in their favor.
