Gary Lobel

With over 20 years of experience, Gary is currently a Senior Patent Counsel at Reckitt for the Health business. Gary was a Chief Patent Counsel and Senior R&D Counsel for Nestlé for 15 years.  Prior to that he was a Patent Attorney at Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation and an Intellectual Property Attorney for Emisphere Technologies, Inc., a small biotech company specializing in oral drug delivery systems.  He started his career with a Boutique firm (Handal & Morofsky) in Norwalk, CT doing IP litigation and preparation and prosecution.  He is Admitted to practice in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York; and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and United States Supreme Court.

He received his Juris Doctor (JD) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI and is a Doctor of Chiropractic graduating from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, where he also received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology.  Additionally, he studied Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Chemistry at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.

He is known for leading Global Legal and Intellectual Property matters and providing business centric legal advice and counsel and risk assessments.   His responsibilities have included drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and agreements, including confidentiality, licensing, research, and technology transfer.  He has extensive experience with Due Diligence analysis evaluating opportunities and risks in potential partnerships and acquisitions and has been integral in many business unit divestments and acquisitions.  He provides legal expertise on all Intellectual Property related matters including preparation and prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyright, preparing and implementing intellectual property, R&D, and licensing strategies, protection plans, freedom to operate and enforcement plans in technology areas that include biotechnology, pharmacologic and nutritional formulations, medical devices and managing litigation and opposition related matters.
