Pauline Newman Award
The Pauline Newman Award, created with the blessing of Judge Newman, is given each year to recognize the unique achievements of one patent attorney over their career. The award recognizes excellence, influence, integrity, vision, and wisdom – all characteristics commonly associated with the award namesake, Judge Newman.
IPWatchdog is pleased to announce that Phil Johnson, Founder and Principal of Johnson-IP Strategy & Policy Consulting, and Chair of the Steering Committee of the Coalition for 21st Century Patent Reform, will be this year’s recipient of this award. Judge Newman will join us for the award presentation. Phil will be presented with the award immediately following lunch on Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2024, at IPWatchdog LIVE 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM ET.
Phil Johnson has been a leader in the IP field for two generations, and a friend and mentor to many. He first gained recognition as one of America’s preeminent patent litigators, and then as Chief IP Counsel for Johnson & Johnson. Today, Phil is a private consultant and expert witness, and he continues to testify on IP matters in hearings on Capitol Hill, which he has done dozens of times throughout his career. He is regarded as one of the true, long-time champions of IP, and for an award that recognizes the excellence of in-house IP attorneys, it is difficult to think of anyone more deserving of recognition than Phil.
