Today, the role of a trademark professional is evolving from a primarily legal role to a broader brand protection management position, which requires new responsibilities and brings new challenges. Of course, the name of the game remains the same, which is to cultivate, harness and protect reputation, and quickly identify and stomp out reputational damages. In the digital age, where social media is omnipresent and threat profiles have increased dramatically due record-breaking e-commerce, it has never been more critical to have a clear identity. And because business knows no boundaries, brands, trademarks, and protection regimes should similarly know no boundaries.

This panel will, among other things, discuss:

1. How cultural norms affect the strategy and approach to trademark infringement and enforcement

2. Changes in international brand and trademark best practices.

3. The increasing role technology plays with respect to global brand protection and portfolio management.
