Empowering SME Growth by Leveraging IP
The whole economy has a vested interest in seeing these SMEs succeed, and leveraging IP rights can certainly enhance company value. Notwithstanding, the truth is that SMEs are much less likely to own IP in the first place, compared to large companies. And the idea that the State should invest in supporting SMEs to capture and utilize IP has yet to gain widespread acceptance. There is much that can be done to facilitate awareness of the issues around IP for SMEs, and much benefit to be gained when SMEs identify, protect and leverage their innovations and turn those innovations into IP assets. This panel will discuss how SMEs can and should be leveraging their intangible assets, and the work of governments and incubators to help SMEs succeed.
