Turning Patents into Revenue: Building Successful Enforcement-Driven Monetization Campaigns

View Session Speakers

Patent monetization does not begin with a demand letter—it begins with credibility. Even well-prepared portfolios will underperform if they are not positioned for execution against sophisticated counterparties who rigorously assess technical relevance, evidence of use, enforceability, and downside risk. In today’s market, assertions that cannot withstand that scrutiny are ignored.

This panel assumes that the foundational work of organizing and understanding the portfolio has already been completed. With that in mind, our conversation will focus on what happens next on the path to realizing revenue. Panelists will examine how patent owners translate structured assets into revenue through licensing programs that if unsuccessful will mature into enforcement campaigns. The discussion will cover the mechanics of building a credible monetization thesis, including development of evidence of use, claim mapping, the construction of licensing narratives, and portfolio positioning that can withstand diligence by operating companies, investors, and litigation finance providers.

A central theme of the conversation will be the reality that successful monetization efforts are built on the credible prospect of litigation. While early-stage licensing resolutions are possible, they are typically achieved only when backed by a well-developed enforcement strategy. Panelists will address how to prepare for that reality—what it takes to build an enforcement campaign that can progress through litigation if necessary, and how that preparation directly impacts negotiating leverage, timing, and outcomes.

The panel will also explore the broader, evolving monetization marketplace—how assets are valued, where deals are getting done, and how enforcement dynamics, capital markets, and litigation funding influence monetization strategy.
