Securing the Internet of Things with Blockchain
With the global Internet of Things (IoT) market size is projected to reach USD 650.5 Billion by 2026—doubling in size from USD 300.3 billion in 2021—there is an ever increasing need to properly secure information and data to ensure privacy and reliability of data and transactions. Among the ways this is being handled currently is through the use of blockchain technology.
A blockchain is a type of distributed ledger, or peer-to-peer database spread across a network, that records all transactions in the network in immutable form, in digitally recorded data packages called blocks. Each block contains a batch of records of transactions, including a timestamp and a reference to the previous block, linking the blocks together in a chain. The system relies on cryptographic techniques for secure recording of transactions.
This panel will discuss the role blockchain is playing today and what can be expected in the future as blockchain continues to mature. The panel will also address the patenting of blockchain technologies, and how these technologies are being deployed, monetized and enforced.
