The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) is the leading industry organization for intellectual property attorneys. Every year they host the annual meeting<\/strong><\/a> at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. The luncheon speaker on Thursday, October 23, will be EPO President Benoit Battistelli. The Luncheon speaker on Friday, October 24, will be Judge Raymond Chen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.<\/p>\n

Patent Bar Review Course<\/strong>

Patent Litigation Program in New York, NY<\/strong>
\nNovember 10-11, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rapid changes in patent law make it necessary that, whether you are the plaintiff\u2019s or defendant\u2019s counsel, you are up-to-date on the current state of the law and can quickly develop successful litigation strategies and tactics. This program is taught by a faculty of both outside and in-house lawyers who have earned national reputations in patent litigation by trying and managing a wide variety of bench and jury patent trials and U.S. Patent Office post grant trial proceedings, and provides comprehensive coverage of every phase of these patent matters. This year\u2019s program also features views from U.S. District Court judges who will provide their insights on the state of patent litigation and practical tips for litigants.<\/p>\n

I will participate on November 11, 2014, providing the ethics lecture, which will earn participants 1 credit of MCLE ethics.<\/p>\n

Law School\u00a0Scholarship
\nApplication Deadline: November 12, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Richard Linn American Inn of Court<\/strong><\/a> is proud to offer the Mark T. Banner Scholarship, which is an award of $5,000. This scholarship is part of The Richard Linn American Inn of Court’s commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers of high ethics, civility and professionalism, and especially those from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Law students who have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States and who will continue in that program through the Fall semester 2014 are eligible to apply for the Mark T. Banner Scholarship.<\/p>\n

Applications will be accepted from now through November 12, 2014. The winner will be notified by April 2015 and the award will be announced at the Linn Inn of Court’s annual dinner in Summer of 2015.<\/p>\n

European Patent Reform Forum USA<\/strong>
\nSilicon Valley, December 10, 2014 ~ New York, NY, December 12, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the onset of the European Patent Reform and Unitary Patent Court fast approaching, Managing IP will be hosting a program titled\u00a0European Patent Reform Forum USA<\/em> in both San Jose (December 10<\/span>) and in New York (December 12<\/span>). The program is tailored to a US audience and will discuss the unified patent court and the unified patent in detail. It will also take an in-depth look at the most pressing issues for US companies such as: winning opposition proceedings without discovery; why you shouldn\u2019t be scared of bifurcation; litigation planning and forum shopping in the European Unified Patent Court; alternative European IP dispute resolution; and global litigation strategies.<\/p>\n
