The Honorable Paul Michel was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. In 2010, he retired after serving more than 22 years on the court. In his years on the bench, he judged thousands of appeals and wrote over 800 opinions, approximately one-third in patent cases. Judge Michel continues to be a forceful advocate for a strong patent system and testifies regularly on Capitol Hill.
