When (and If) To Interview at the USPTO

St. Louis, MO, October 24, 2024: Are interviews a crucial tool for overcoming USPTO examiner objections and accelerating the path to allowance, or are they merely a time-consuming last resort? In its upcoming webinar, When (and If) To Interview at the USPTO: The Great Debate Settled by Data, scheduled for November 6, 2024, Juristat will unveil critical insights from its analysis of patent applications disposed of since January 2015. Among the key findings:

• Applications with interviews have significantly higher allowance rates (77%) than those without (68%), yet only 30% of applications include an interview.
• Interviews are most effective early in prosecution, particularly when five or fewer office actions have been issued. Despite this, interviews are more commonly conducted later in the process.
• Not all examiners respond positively to interviews. Juristat’s analysis identifies examiners whose allowance rates without interviews far exceed their rates with an interview.
