February 10, 2023, Falls Church, VA: Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP (BSKB) is pleased to announce the return of their annual Seminar Series.

After a short pandemic-hiatus, BSKB will bring back all 3 seminars to their Falls Church location. The Seminar Series includes the U.S. Brand Protection & Trademark Seminar, April 11-14, 2023; the Summer Patent Seminar, June 12-30, 2023; and the Post Grant Bootcamp June 29-30, 2023. These seminars will be held in person.

These seminars provide the type of practical training that cannot be obtained from normal legal texts. In addition, questions and open discussion among the participants are encouraged.

The U.S. Brand Protection & Trademark Seminar (BPTS) hosted April 11-14, 2023 is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the selection, clearance, registration, enforcement, proper use and protection of brands and trademarks. Beginning with introductory lectures on the fundamental purpose of brands and trademarks and how their rights are created, the topics become more complex throughout the week, exploring advanced topics such as inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), domain name and social media issues, anti-counterfeiting and litigation.

The Summer Patent Seminar (SPS) hosted June 12-30, 2023 provides a comprehensive overview of U.S. patent law. It focuses primarily on the practical problems encountered in obtaining valid and enforceable U.S. patents, as well as enforcement of patent rights after grant. The seminar encompasses lectures provided by experienced practitioners who encourage questions and discussions in the class.

The Post Grant Bootcamp (PGB) hosted June 29-30, 2023 is an intensive training program for improving one’s skills in the post grant arena. The Post Grant Bootcamp will start with a brief overview of post grant issues and will then take an in-depth look at post grant procedures and specific topics. Current developments will also be discussed.

Our knowledgeable lecturers draw from many years of experience in the patent, trademark, and post grant fields and focus on real life case examples. Prior experience with trademark law is not required for the BPTS, however we suggest at least an entry-level experience for the SPS and PGB.

In addition to the academic component of the seminars, BSKB strives to help our non-U.S. participants experience, enjoy and appreciate the American way of life and culture. Likewise, our U.S. participants have a chance to explore the Washington, D.C. area and learn about the cultures of their non-U.S. classmates. We have planned many complimentary events and dinner receptions. Many friendships and business relationships are made during the course of the seminar that last long after the seminar concludes.

Virginia CLE credit will be available for all seminars.
