[London, January 2022] – Versatile Video Coding (VVC) includes both improved compression efficiency and new features to enhance support for immersive video, low-delay video coding, and computer graphics/screen content.
The major contributing organizations are Qualcomm, Huawei, Sharp, Bytedance, LGE, MediaTek, Fraunhofer HHI, Ericsson, Tencent, Panasonic, Kwai Inc., Alibaba, Interdigital, Broadcom, Nokia, Sony, Samsung, and Canon where Qualcomm, Huawei, and Sharp have the highest number of approved and incorporated VVC Contributions.
About 100 worldwide organizations, including companies, universities, and R&D centers, and 400 video coding experts took part and contributed to VVC technology development and standardization irrespective of the status of their submitted contribution.
