Registration Now Open for Free Global WIPO-Korea IP Course

Registration for the fourteenth annual Advanced International Certificate Course (AICC) on IP asset management for business success is now open until May 7.

Jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the AICC is a free, three-step online training program that provides a path for even beginners to become IP experts.

In the first stage of the course, participants must first complete the IP Panorama 2.0 program, which represents a significant leap forward from its predecessor as the entire program has been updated to utilize microlearning techniques and features a modern design, recent case studies, and more. The original thirteen course modules have been reduced to eight and sub-divided to reflect current trends in e-learning, with shorter educational segments for mobile-friendly content. This is followed by WIPO’s DL-450 IP Management (IPM) course, which focuses on how to develop and implement an IPM strategy.

After studying the DL-450 course materials, participants can then progress to take the IP essay. The essay will be based on up to four DL-450 case-based questions and the participants’ motivation for learning IP.

Participants who receive the best grades for the essay will be selected to take part in the final phase of the AICC, the offline seminar. Around thirty participants from all corners of the globe will come together for the face-to-face course in November, which will feature expert lecturers covering a range of IP issues. However, there is a small chance that this offline seminar will be held online instead. Those who complete each step of the course will receive a certificate signed by all the organizers.

Ryu Joohyun, general manager of KIPA’s International Cooperation Department, encouraged interested parties to sign up for the AICC to broaden their IP knowledge and gain a formal certification.

He said: “The AICC course gives participants a chance to receive a globally-recognized certificate in IP from the comfort of their own homes. It is designed to steadily build upon participants’ understanding of IP as they progress through all three stages, culminating in the offline seminar.

“Those selected for the offline seminar will have a chance to network with like-minded professionals and learn from some of the top IP experts from around the world. Sign up now to make sure you don’t miss out on this great chance to study IP for free.”

Since 2010, over 12,000 participants from 175 countries have signed up for the AICC program. To sign up for this year’s AICC course, please visit KIPA’s educational content site KIPO Academy. If you have any inquiries about the course, please email [email protected].
