A’Tolani Akinkuotu

A’Tolani Akinkuotu is Associate General Counsel at Meta. As a member of the Patents, Licensing, and Open Source team, Tolani focuses on strategic transactions, technology transactions, mergers & acquisitions, software licensing, IP licensing and transactions, open source counseling and compliance for Generative AI, and mitigating IP risks. Tolani collaborates closely with business, engineering, product, and research teams on these matters. Tolani previously served as Associate General Counsel where he advised various engineering and product teams on protecting Meta’s intellectual property and maintaining freedom of action to allow the teams to continue to innovate and develop products freely.

Before joining Meta, Tolani worked at Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton LLP as an associate on the patent prosecution team. His practice focused on counseling clients on domestic and international patent prosecution strategies and drafting patent applications covering a wide variety of technology areas.

Tolani earned his JD from Wake Forest University School of Law and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University
