Bayes PLLC is Seeking a Patent Preparation and Prosecution Attorney or Agent

Bayes PLLC is looking for a Patent Preparation and Prosecution Attorney or Agent who wants more than a job. Bayes offers direct access to technically rich work, flexible scheduling, and a close-knit team environment where your contributions actually matter.

At Bayes, you will draft and prosecute patent applications across some of the most exciting technology spaces today: semiconductors, AI, telecommunications, medical devices, consumer electronics, and renewable energy. As you grow, you will have the opportunity to expand into invalidity proceedings, patent litigation support, and IP due diligence.

This is a full-time or part-time, hybrid position.

Why Join Bayes:

  • Do work that matters. You will engage directly with inventors and clients on technically sophisticated matters. Every application has a story, and you will help tell it.
  • Flexibility and trust. Hybrid scheduling – we believe people do their best work when they have control over how and where they work.
  • Grow with intention. Prosecution is your foundation. Over time, the door is open to invalidity proceedings, litigation support, and IP due diligence.
  • A team, not a factory. Small, collaborative, and genuinely supportive. We care about the quality of the work and the people doing it.
  • DC Metro roots. Based in Tysons, in the heart of the DC Metro Area’s vibrant IP community.

Duties Include:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications across electrical, software, mechanical, and biomedical technology areas
  • Prepare thoughtful, well-reasoned responses to USPTO Office Actions
  • Build direct working relationships with inventors and clients throughout the patent process
  • Contribute to invalidity proceedings, litigation support, and IP due diligence as your practice expands

Qualification Required and Preferred:

  • Technical degree in EE, CS, ME, BME, Materials Science, Physics, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in patent drafting and prosecution
  • Technical depth in one or more of: semiconductors, telecommunications, AI, medical devices, consumer electronics, or renewable energy and storage
  • USPTO Patent Bar admission
  • JD and state bar admission are a plus, but not required
  • An advanced STEM degree is preferred
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills; high attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your caseload
  • Foreign language proficiency, such as Chinese, is welcome but not required
