Carpenter Technology is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Counsel – Patent Attorney with 3–5 years of patent or intellectual property management experience and a strong interest in corporate and commercial law matters. This hybrid in-house role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both patent and corporate legal initiatives in a dynamic, innovative-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the company’s intellectual property strategy, including patent prosecution, portfolio development, and IP risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, business development, and senior leadership to align IP strategy with business goals.
- Provide legal support on commercial matters, including contracts, licensing, and compliance.
- Assist with broader legal initiatives across the organization.
Qualifications Required:
- JD from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- USPTO registration required
- 3–5 years of experience in patent law, preferably in-house or with a focus on materials science, manufacturing, or engineering
- Strong interest in expanding into commercial legal work (approx. 50% of the role)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
