Parker Poe is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate to join its IP Practice Group in Greenville, SC.

Parker Poe is seeking a full-time Patent Prosecution Associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Greenville, South Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a close-knit team with a robust client base consisting of both national and international clientele.

Parker Poe’s Intellectual Property Team has decades of experience representing a broad variety of businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofits, including entities at the forefront of their industries. It provides practical solutions to the complex as well as the routine intellectual property needs of its clients.

Parker Poe’s team includes registered U.S. patent attorneys, board-certified specialists in trademark law, and lawyers recognized by their peers in the premier guides to the legal profession. It has built a significant depth of knowledge in patents, trademarks, copyrights, IT contracts, trade secrets, and other areas of intellectual property.

Primary Duties:

The role will include drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications, complex patent office proceedings, strategic patent portfolio development, and other patent-related counseling, including opinions and post-grant projects. The role may also include projects related to intellectual property litigation, trademarks, and technology transactions and agreements.

Qualifications Required and Preferred:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience prosecuting patent applications in the U.S., including drafting utility applications and responding to office actions.
  • Applicants must be registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • A background or experience in the chemical, materials, or mechanical arts is preferred.
