Grüneberg and Myers PLLC is Seeking a Ph.D. Chemical/Biotech Patent Attorney or Patent Agent

Grüneberg and Myers is a quickly-growing boutique intellectual property law firm located in Tysons, Virginia. The firm has an open position for an experienced Patent Attorney or Patent Agent with substantial experience in patent prosecution related to any of the following fields: pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, polymers, or specialty chemicals. This is a full-time position in Tysons, Virginia, or remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • prosecuting US patent applications at all stages, from filing to issuance, primarily in chemical technologies
  • advocating persuasively for clients’ interests before Patent Examiners and Administrative Patent Judges
  • counseling clients on a wide range of issues including prosecution strategy, freedom-to-operate issues, cost optimization, and recent developments in US patent practice
  • working the hours necessary to satisfy the responsibilities of the position

Qualifications Required:

  • 5-10 years of chemical patent prosecution experience, preferably in a law firm setting
  • registration number for practicing patent prosecution with the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • license as a member in good standing with any US state bar (if an attorney)
  • Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, or a closely-related field
  • English-language fluency
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • eligibility to work in the US

Qualifications Preferred:

  • fluency in French, German, and/or Japanese languages
  • chemical industry experience
  • teaching experience at Graduate chemistry level
  • degrees from highly-ranked universities and/or at least one university in Europe or Asia
